Racing short course in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series is a ton of fun. The overall racing experience is a lot more action packed, held in a tighter course that is much more spectator friendly, and keeps motivation up. A great way to compare short course racing is to Supercross. You get a lot of spectator interaction through the pits with autograph signing and people taking posters and flyers. Having great fan support helps motivate me to want to drive good and put on a show. Being held in Phoenix Arizona meant warm weather with the sun high in the sky. Pair that up with having a two day event meant two days of action.

Saturday went great. We qualified 4th in our Pro Lite which was running flawless. After starting up front we were running 5th and managed to bicycle it through one corner. That not setting us back too much a broken belt did. Due to the snapped belt, we lost our water pump which started causing the truck to overheat. With our motor running hot we only managed to pull an 11th place finish. Although, Sunday was a new day and the second round of the series. After inspecting the truck, the engine builder gave the all clear from Saturdays overheat. Qualifying was going well until we broke an axle making us settle for 9th. With qualifying 9th and having some overheating we started near the back and decided to run our race. After 5 laps of racing we lost the head gasket in the engine, ultimately ending our day. Even though the weekend didn’t go to plan, we still had an amazing time with our fans, family and team. I have to thank all my sponsors: : General Tire, KC HiLites, Camburg, King Shocks, Jamar Brakes, McKenzie’s, Patrick’s Signs, and Hostyle for their unlimited support. See you guys in a couple weeks.
