BITD Parker Desert Challenge
The Best in the Desert Bluewater Desert Challenge held in the iconic party central of Parker Arizona along the shores of the Colorado River. The race format for this event is unlike any other race in the BITD series, where you run 4 laps on a shorter course over a 2 separate days. Prior to the race we tested the car on Tuesday and everything ran awesome, Thursday we went out for qualifying and managed to push the car to a 4th. With tech on Friday and everything on track going smooth, we heading into Saturday morning running the sportsman class in the early AM to pre run and get a feel for the course. With high temps and a sandy track we knew we had to push the car hard through two, brutal, Arizona afternoons.
Come race time on Saturday we raced off the line and won the infield drag race which gave us clean air as we caught first, second, and third place all bunched up. Racing through the dust on the second lap seeing all 3 sets of amber lights in a row I could taste victory and push through the filth and began to pass drivers. With 10 miles to spare, I got passed Lofton making me the first car across the line. Unfortunately I got bumped back to second place on official times.
Sunday’s race started me side by side with Harley Letner. Letner and I battled back and forth for the entire first lap. With a beat up course and deep sand the heat eventually took a toll on the car. Transmission and engine temperature began to climb so I backed off the pace a little. Managed to keep the car running strong and pulled it across the line in 3rd place. We had an amazing weekend and have a ton of momentum going into Lake Elsinore and the closing round of the Henderson 250. I have to thank all my help and fans for showing their continued love and support. Thanks to all my sponsors: General Tire, KC HiLites, Camburg, King Shocks, Jamar Brakes, McKenzie’s, Patrick’s Signs, Neo Synthetics, Rancho Performance Transaxles, and Hostyle.
